News from our DRI 'i sea, i care' Ambassadors
This term, as part of their leadership role, our 'i sea i care' Ambassadors shared their love for the ocean with our junior classrooms. Through three interactive presentations, including acting out dolphins hunting for food among rubbish and learning how the Decorator Crab camouflages itself with seaweed, our junior students enjoyed a fun, hands-on experience.
The ambassadors also shared important messages about reducing single-use plastics, recycling correctly, and caring for our local environment, especially as we live so close to Western Port Bay.
The presentations were full of energy and learning, with quizzes, actions, and role-play that engaged everyone. Our ambassadors loved the opportunity to share their knowledge and inspire others to care for our oceans. Here are the highlights from our i sea i care Ambassadors:
- Flynn: “I really enjoyed visiting the junior classrooms and teaching the students all about the ocean and how they can help care for it.”
- Abby: “I liked seeing all the students listen to the presentation and try their best to answer the questions we asked them.”
- Izzy: “I loved acting as a dolphin in the presentation and the students having fun with the True or False quiz.”
- Charlie: “I liked teaching the students about using a reusable water bottle instead of using a single-use plastic bottle.”
We are so proud of our ambassadors for inspiring others to care for our common home! We are also proud of the confident way they presented the messages, reflected on their learning, and listened to feedback to improve each presentation.
