A Strong Start to Term 3 – On Stage and On Field
It has been a lively start to Term 3 with students enthusiastically re-engaging in the full breadth of Co-curricular life at the College.
On Sunday, three ensembles represented St Patrick’s College at the Australian Schools Band and Orchestra Festival – our Concert Band, Jazz Orchestra, and College Orchestra. It was a fantastic effort across the board, with two Silvers and a Bronze awarded to our Orchestras. Congratulations to all involved on their preparation, performance, and pride in representing the College.
Saturday marked the recommencement of Winter sports, and it was a pleasure to be out supporting our boys as they returned to competition. The pride with which they wore the uniform and the way they carried themselves across venues was noteworthy.
In Rugby, the opening round of the combined competition saw our teams take on Waverley College away. The 16As posted a strong win, while the First and Second XV both fell just short in close contests – results that confirm our program’s standing amongst the stronger schools in Sydney. While we host Barker College this week, it is worth looking ahead to the First XV fixture against Knox Grammar School on our annual “Back to Breen Day”, Saturday 9 August, which will be streamed live by NSWRU TV.
On the Football pitch, there were many great results in the fixtures and some strong performances from our boys. The First XI set the tone with a dominant 11–0 victory over Redlands School, continuing a strong run of form this season despite some representative duties and injuries. Many of our teams will feature in the upcoming ISA finals which will cap a great season for Mr Falzon and the program.
We also note that Alessandro Piccin is currently representing NSW Schools at the SSA 18 Years and Under Football Championships in Queensland. The latest update from Day 3 was that NSW had a good win 2–1 over ACT, bringing the results to 3 wins out of 3 matches.
Thank you to all students, staff, coaches, and families who contributed to a great opening week of the term. We look forward to the many opportunities ahead to celebrate the talent, effort, and spirit of our students.

A Celebration of Achievement and Spirit
What an outstanding day it was on Sunday 27 July at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where our talented students represented the College with great pride at the Australian School Band and Orchestra Festival.
We are delighted to share their results:
Concert Band was awarded a Silver Award
Jazz Orchestra received a Silver Award
College Orchestra was awarded a Bronze Award.
These achievements speak for themselves but what stood out even more was the spirit in which our boys performed. Their commitment, focus, and musicality were truly inspiring. Watching them step onto the stage with confidence, encourage one another, and give their very best was a moment of immense pride for us all.
Their teamwork and quiet determination were every bit as impressive as the music they shared. Events like this are not just about performance, they help students build resilience, grow in confidence, and strengthen a sense of community.
We are incredibly proud of our students, not only for what they achieved, but for how they carried themselves throughout the day.
To our families, thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. Your belief in our students and your generosity of spirit play a vital role in their continued success.
A special thank you to Mr Keegan, who led the Jazz boys with such professionalism.
Congratulations to all involved. We look forward to many more musical moments in the term ahead.
