Wellbeing - Senior School

The wide variety of activities and the pace at which they occur at the College never ceases to amaze me. Every day, the College’s Touchstones are lived out by staff and students. It is hard to believe that the boys have only been back for a week, yet so much has happened in these seven days.

Students in Years 8 and 10 are currently finalising elective and subject choices for 2026 after participating in Information sessions last week. The importance of boys being able to hear from staff and students cannot be underestimated.

The majority of students in Years 8 and 9 attended dances last Thursday and Friday evenings, the first occasion where we held the dances in the middle of the year. Both nights were overwhelmingly energetic and positive, with our students and the young ladies from Domremy, MLC School and Santa Sabina College enjoying the opportunity to interact.

On Monday evening, I attended the Year 12 Drama Showcase, where our talented students presented their group and individual performances, and had the opportunity to view major works of others in the class. The quality of the performances and works was fantastic, reflecting the creative skills of the students along with the skills required to produce engaging scripts, short videos, and promotional posters.

Yesterday, the Year 11 cohort participated in the annual Leadership Day, with the voting of Senior Leaders for 2026 taking place. It was wonderful to have Old Boy Nadim Sara and the mother of former student leaders, Mrs Bejjani, address the Year 11 students on their perceptions of leadership as part of the day.

I pass on my thanks to all the staff involved in the organisation and running of these events. This is extended to the Senior Students who assisted staff.

Looking forward, I take this opportunity to wish all the Year 12 students the very best as they commence their Trial HSC examinations next Monday.
