Naidoc Week at St Philomena's

Monday

Monday we had our opening liturgy & awards ceremony followed by a BYO morning tea, cake cutting, Uncle Kraka's emu egg blowing and didge practice, primary had art activities followed by a movie afternoon while secondary had a visit from Kerry Saunders from The University of Sydney followed by an Indigenous games afternoon.

Wednesday

Wednesday we were lucky enough to have a visit from Rod Tighe one of Moree's Aboriginal Liaison Officers who reffed some games of touch football along with Sergeant Houston from Moree Police for our secondary students while we cooked a BBQ sausage sandwich for our entire school.

We also judged our deadly doors competition. Our deadly doors competition is where each primary and PAC class creates a deadly door design inline with this years Naidoc theme. The doors are then judged by our AEA team and prizes are awarded on the last day of school to the winning classes and teachers.

Thursday

Thursday our Secondary students walked to Moree Secondary College to take part in the annual Naidoc Touch Football Competition to see who would win the Aunty Dell Munro Shield. After a close game and playing an extra 5 minutes, this years winner was Moree Secondary College. All students from both schools played some great games.

Thank you to MSC for hosting, providing a yummy BBQ and a great day out for us all.

Deadly Doors Competition

This year we held our deadly doors competition again. Students and teachers from each primary and PAC classes designed a their door inline with this years Naidoc theme. It was great to see so many students and teachers get into it, making each door unique to their classrooms. Its been a hard task to judge and find 3 winning doors. One winner is chosen from each department - infants, primary and secondary. This years winners are Miss Marshalls Kindergarten class, Year 5 and Secondary Pac with mr McKenzie. Winners will be awarded chips and gravy.
