Principal's Report

Rohan Cooper

Welcome back to Term 3. With only nine weeks in the term, it is going to be a quick one, and one that is jam-packed with exciting events for our school. Make sure you stay across all our school communications, including this fortnightly newsletter, to ensure you keep up to date.

Earlier this week, we received a summary of our 2025 NAPLAN results. Whilst this suite of national assessments is simply a snapshot of student learning on a particular day, it can be utilised as a normalised data set for schools to use in a variety of ways.

I would like to congratulate all our students for their participation and to our staff for administering the tests and preparing their students sensibly and considerately. Our results in 2025 were outstanding, and I would like to share a summary of the students’ achievements.

In the ten assessments administered across Years 3 and 5 (Reading, Writing, Spelling, Numeracy and Grammar / Punctuation) in 2025:

  • We had more students achieve in the ‘exceeding’ (or the highest) proficiency level in seven of the ten assessed categories than we did in 2024
  • We had more students achieve in the combined ‘strong and exceeding’ (or ‘at or above’ level) proficiency level in seven of the ten assessed categories than we did in 2024.
  • We had more students achieving in the ‘strong and exceeding’ category than our ‘similar schools’ (schools of similar size and family socio-economic background) in seven of the ten assessed categories.
  • We had more students achieving in the ‘strong and exceeding’ category than our ‘network schools’ (schools in the Stonnington and Glen Eira network of approximately thirty schools) in nine of the ten assessed categories.

Our school remained a busy place over the most recent school holiday period, with works including:

  • Painting and classroom modernisation works to Year 3 and 4 classes in the traditional building (Bundeera Street side).
  • Installation of new whiteboards and pinboards in classrooms.
  • Multiple door repairs and replacements.
  • Electrical works including reinstatement of night lights in the traditional building.
  • Roof rectification works in the traditional building.
  • Maintenance of the sewerage system.

You will certainly have heard by now that the installation of our new senior playground has commenced, alongside the newly constructed ‘gaga pit’. With considerable thanks to all our community for their generous contributions, we invite you to the opening of this area at a special assembly on Thursday 7th August at 9:10am.

Finally, I would like to wish Patrick Hardiman from Year 6 the best of luck as he heads to Maroochydore in early August to represent Victoria in the 12 and under School Sport Australian Football Championships. It is an incredible achievement to be selected into this elite squad and reflects Patrick’s dedication to his sport, as well as his excellent attitude.

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
