Yarning Conference

Darebin City council has invited us to participate in the Yarning Circle conference.

 

This event is aimed at deepening an exploration of the NAIDOC theme KEEP THE FIRE BURNING - BLAK, LOUD AND PROUD 

 

The Yarning Conference Themes are:

1.EXPLORING THE NAIDOC THEME - Keep the Fire Burning: BLAK, LOUD and PROUD 

 

2. LEARNING ABOUT THE FIRST PEOPLES’ ASSEMBLY AND TREATY IN VICTORIA – Now! 

 

3. TRUTH-TELLING 4. TRADITIONAL OWNERS OF DAREBIN – CARING FOR COUNTRY

The conference will take place on Tuesday 22nd October.

Grade 5 students will be invited to participate in the program. Next week I will meet with the grade 5 students and give them the details of how they can be involved in the conference. Pre-conference activities will be provided to the students who choose to participate through a 'lunchtime' club program will will begin in week 7 of this term. 

Please contact me if you would like to become involved in this project along with us. This would involve attending at a minimum one of our pre-conference activities and being available on the 22nd October. email me attention Sonya re: Yarning Circle through the school email address.

 

Smile Dental Program

The school dental program will be onsite on Monday 11th November.

Information on this service is in the flyer attached below.

This program is available to all students. Permission forms will be sent home before the end of this term for families to indicate if they would like their child to be seen by the Smile Patrol dental services onsite at Newlands. 

Resilience Activity

Details are being finalised on this activity for parents/carers and will be available in next weeks newsletter.

It will be held in week 9 of this term.
