Book Week - Reading is Magic
Each year across Australia, The Children’s Book Council brings children and books together celebrating Children’s Book Week. This provides us with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Australian Children’s Literature.
This year Book Week will be celebrated from the 19th - 23rd August (Week 5, Term 3), the theme being “Reading is Magic”.
St Xavier’s students will spend time during the week participating in various classroom activities focused on this theme.
Our celebrations will begin with a dress up day on Monday 19th August (Week 5). Students may choose to dress up as their favourite book character or dress to the theme “Reading is Magic”. Students may stay dressed in their costumes all day if they are comfortable. Please note that the costume does not need to be too elaborate!
You are most welcome to join us for a Book Week Parade in the hall at 12:30 pm followed by a picnic lunch. At the end of lunch, students will return to class as normal.
St Xavier’s Book Swap!
This year the Library will be hosting the St Xavier’s Book Swap! Students can bring a book to school they’d like to swap for another donated book. Please make sure the book is age appropriate, in great condition and one that your child is happy to give away (they won’t get it back!!). If your child is interested in participating in the Book Swap, please return the permission slip with the book to the library by Monday 12th August, Week 4.
We will organise the books and host the swap during Book Week.
