From the Principal
Parkdale Mini Olympics
Today was a big day - as we hosting the Parkdale Mini Olympics. We had a fun filled day including the opening and closing ceremony, parade of nations, Olympic activities and a French inspired lunch.
A big thank you to the Olympic Parent’s Committee who have organised this event: food, activities, sponsorship and donations. Also thank you to the large number of parents who volunteered assisting with the events and lunch.
Excitement filled the gym as former Olympian Emma Dyke visited to share her journey with eager students. Emma was part of the New Zealand rowing team at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and was a silver medallist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 'eight' event. Emma talked to students about her experiences taking part in the Olympics, the adrenaline rush of competition, the camaraderie among athletes, and the sacrifices made to chase dreams. The children hung on her every word, inspired by her resilience and dedication, as she encouraged them to pursue their passions relentlessly.
Thank you to all our sponsors: Bendigo Bank, Buxton Mentone, Baker’s Delight Mordialloc, YOMG, Parkdale Charcoal Chicken, Maros Pizza & Pasta, Station Stop Café, Soho Coffee House, Four Cousins Supermercato, Woolworths Thrift Park and Mentone, Tim Richardson. Two water and bottle stations will be installed with money raised.
A special thank you to Bendigo Bank for their generous donation of $18,000 which will enable us to install the two water stations. A huge thank you to our Parkdale families for raising just over $19000 - we will be able to put this money towards another project. Your support and donations are greatly appreciated
100 Days
Congratulations to our foundation students who celebrated 100 days of school last Wednesday. The children looked fantastic in their 100 dress ups. The day started with a parade and a special 100-day song and finished with the presentation of certificates. Only 1335 days left of primary school.
Play expectations on the oval
It is great to have such an active community at PPS. Our students love to play footy and soccer on the oval. At school, we expect that no tackling is to occur for any games. Our classroom teachers and teachers out on yard duty reinforce this expectation and we would appreciate if parents also reinforced this at home with your children.
Girls AFL Gala Day
Congratulations to the Parkdale Girls AFL team who participated in a Gala Day at Bonbeach last Monday. The girls played exceptionally well and were unlucky not to make it through to the next round. Mr A was very impressed with the teamwork and determination demonstrated by the girls.
