St Johns Park Corroboree
Our school celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture as part of our Public Education Week on Wednesday, 7th August, 2024.
Corroboree is an Aboriginal word for social gathering and it was great to learn from others on the day. All Preschool to Year 6 students engaged in different activities that allowed our students to learn through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. This included story sharing, using symbol and images, connecting with community links and so much more!
We were fortunate to have Aunty Carol as a special guest who visited and taught us about the importance of language and being proud of your culture. She shared with us how important it is to remember that our hearts keep us strong, our minds help us to be smart and together that makes us deadly (awesome!).
