Principal's Message

Ms Grace Carlo-Stella

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term Three. We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable winter break, filled with quality time spent with family and friends. It's important for both you and your children to take some downtime to recharge, so we hope you had plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind.

As we settle back into the school routine, you may notice your child expressing some complaints or concerns about friends, happenings at school or their school work. Here are a few tips on how to handle these:

  1. Listen Actively: Give your child your full attention and let them express their feelings without interruption.
  2. Validate Their Feelings: Acknowledge their emotions and reassure them that it’s okay to feel that way.
  3. Discuss Solutions: Work together to find practical solutions to their concerns. Ask them to try a solution out at school. Role play the solution with them.
  4. Stay Positive: Encourage a positive outlook and highlight the fun and exciting aspects of school.
  5. Remember, You're Hearing One Side: Children often tell us only what they want us to hear. It's essential to consider that there might be more to the story.

Friendship and Social Skills

School is a wonderful place for your child to learn how to navigate friendships and social situations. While we cannot force children to play with each other or not play with each other, we provide a supportive environment where they can develop important social skills. Encouraging your child to work through these situations helps them build resilience and empathy, which are invaluable life skills.

In this newsletter is an article from raisingchildren.net.au an Australian parenting website. This website has short articles with suggestions on how to work through issues with your children. A valuable resource.

Holiday Accomplishments

During the holidays, the was a lot of activity at the school improving our facilities. The following took place:

  • Infant Block: The entire infant block has now been painted and newly carpeted.
  • PA System: A new PA system has been installed to ensure clear and efficient communication.
  • Enhanced Security: Additional security measures have been implemented at the front office door to ensure the safety of our school community.

Term Three - A Busy Term Ahead

Term Three is shaping up to be a busy and exciting term. Here are a few highlights:

  • Last Friday with the Grandparents: We had a beautiful liturgy and morning tea to celebrate the Feast of St. Joachim and Anne. It was heartwarming to see so many grandparents join us for this special occasion.
  • Open Classrooms: Our open classrooms event was a great success. It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents visiting and engaging with their children's learning environment.

We look forward to all the exciting activities and events planned for this term and appreciate your continued support and involvement in our school community.

The calendar for term three can be accessed in the newsletter as well as on Compass.

I look forward to another exciting and fruitful term. Thank you for your continued support

Kind Regards,

Grace
