MCG EXCURSION

Next week we have our excursion to the MCG - Monday for Grade 6 and Thursday for Grade 5. As our sessions begin at 10:00 sharp, we need to be ready for the bus at 9:00. Please ensure your child is at school by 8:45, with a small bag containing their lunch, snack and drink bottle.

HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITION

All Grade 6 parents should have received confirmation of their high school placement for 2025. If you're placed at a government school, a reminder that acceptance forms are due back at school by Wednesday August 7th. If you have any questions, please contact Mr Straughan at school.

GRADE 6 SKI CAMP

Ski Camp will be held next Tuesday to Thursday. For those students who aren't going to Ski Camp, we will be running a modified program at school - classes will be mixed up and will be completing activities outside our normal curriculum. Students are expected to attend school as normal. There will be no homework for Grade 6 next week.

SPORT

Congratulations to our Soccer team, who survived the wet and muddy conditions yesterday for a 3-0 win and were crowned District Champions! They now move on to Division in a couple of weeks.

We are excited for the upcoming AFL Girls Gala Day on Monday August the 5th. If your daughter is playing, you will have received an email from Mr Walsh. Please ensure you go on to Compass to pay and give permission.

PROCEDURAL WRITING

Grade 6 students have recently focused in on procedural writing. This has led to students writing steps on how to make slime, complete origami, and complete coding challenges. Have a look at how our slime turned out!

PARLIAMENT EXCURSION

Last term, Grade 6 students enjoyed the excursion to the city to visit Parliament and the State Library. We have recently received correspondence from our local member John Mullahy, or was impressed by the inquisitive nature of our students!

'TALK MONEY' INCURSION

As part of the Year 5 Economics Unit, we were visited by facilitators from 'Talk Money'. Over two sessions the students discussed issues such as needs and wants, saving vs spending and how to have conversations about money. Using discussions and role plays, the students enjoyed sharing their own money stories and learning more about this important topic.
