Welcome back to Term 3! Semester 1 is done and dusted, and we are looking forward to all the excitement that Semester 2 brings. It has been a chilly start to the term, but even with the icy weather, students have come back with a spring in their step.
This term, we are pleased to welcome Miss Jacquie Rosier to the Music teacher position. Miss Rosier has had a brilliant start to her time at VPS and it has been great to see students engaging in music lessons with her. Please make sure to say hello to Miss Rosier if you see her!
We are also pleased to welcome back a familiar face, Ms Chris Mulvany to the role of Art teacher. Chris had a short hiatus from VPS, but is now back with us until the end of the year in Art three days a week. Welcome back Chris!
As well as welcoming some staff, we also this week said farewell to a longstanding Vermont PS teacher, Mrs Noelene Iacavangelo. Mrs Iacavangelo has been a member of the VPS teaching team for 30 years, and has recently had time off to be with her family. Staff had a chance to farewell Noelene last week, and students did this week at assembly, but we thank Noelene for a dedicated 30 years, spent serving the students and staff of VPS. Noelene was our Reading Recovery teacher for a number of years, passing on her love of learning and in particular a love of reading and literacy to so many students over the years. We wish her all the best as she now takes time to enjoy her own family and 5 grandsons, and look forward to hearing about her next adventure!
As you will have noticed if you have been around the Stadium, there has been a flurry of activity! Our plumbing issues are finally being tackled, with much digging, upheaval and re-routing happening. The area looks a bit messy at the moment, but we are hoping that with good weather, it will be back to normal and open for student access within a few weeks. Once the plumbing works are complete, we will begin planning for the next phase of works including replacement/repairs to the flooring.
A reminder to families that the school grounds are supervised from 8:45am-9:00am whilst students are arriving. Students should not be being dropped off earlier than this. Likewise, the yard is supervised after school until 3:45pm.
Some of the children are being asked to stay and play at school until 4pm. Unfortunately, we cannot allow this for safety reasons as there is no supervision. The students that are still at school without parents after 3:45pm will be sent to OSHC where payments will result.
Below, you will find the dates scheduled for different assemblies. Of course, there may be additions with special events, but for Whole School and Sub-School assemblies, please see the information below

As mentioned in assembly, this year our Grade 6 Graduation will be held at school in the Stadium. Previously, the graduation ceremony has been held at Box Hill Town Hall. With an increasing number of students in Year 6, we no longer fit in the town hall, and have had to make different arrangements for our Year 6 celebrations. The students and staff are excited by the new venue, and students have formed a Graduation Committee. This student led committee have an active role in arranging food, decorations and the general running of the evening.
In order to help subsidise the costs of the event, the Graduation Committee have arranged several fundraising events. The first is the 'Pizza and Popper Lunch' which can be purchased on Compass (Instructions on how to do this were sent out from Karen Mummery and are in the below image)
This morning we had a very producgtive Community Network Meeting. A lovely group of parents met, had a hot drink and biscuits and we discussed some of the events that are occurring this time.
At this point we would like you to put the following dates in your diaries:
9th Aug | Next community network meeting |
