On Friday, August 9, 34 enthusiastic students from Ivanhoe Edge embarked on an inspiring journey to the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS). This exclusive visit, guided by the esteemed Charlie Batrouney and Anthony Jordan, provided students with a rare glimpse into the world of elite athleticism at one of Australia’s premier sporting facilities.

The tour offered an exceptional insight into the rigorous training regimens and testing protocols that high-performance athletes undergo. Students observed athletes in action and witnessed the demanding standards required to achieve and maintain peak performance.

During the visit, Charlie Batrouney and Anthony Jordan shared their personal journeys and offered invaluable advice, emphasizing the dedication required to excel in sports. They also highlighted notable Olympic athletes who have trained at VIS in preparation for the Paris 2024 Games, including Tristan Carter, an Ivanhoe Grammar School alumnus, whose achievements serve as a testament to the power of perseverance and ambition.

The impact of the visit was profound, leaving students with a renewed sense of purpose and a strengthened belief in their potential to reach new heights, including the possibility of representing their country at the 2032 Olympics.

The excitement continued back at school with a structured pool recovery session, followed by a regular strength training session in the gym. These activities allowed students to apply their newly gained insights in a practical setting, enhancing both their individual skills and team camaraderie.

This memorable excursion was more than just a field trip; it was a catalyst for dreams and aspirations. The firsthand experience of seeing elite athletes in action and receiving guidance from seasoned professionals has ignited a new level of motivation in our students.
