Principal News

Dear Parents and Carers,

I'm writing to you all from the  VACPSP - Victorian Association of Catholic Primary School Principal Conference in Lorne. The theme for the conference this year is ‘with Strength’.

Each day we have a number of keynote speakers as well as the opportunity to network with other Principals from across Victoria. The conference is sponsored by a number of Educational suppliers that we can reach out to for products and services.

In keeping with the theme ‘with Strength’, on the first day we all received a card with the following affirmations;

I am strong and capable.

I can do hard things.

I am confident in myself and believe I can do anything.

I have done difficult things in the past, and I can do them again.

I am resilient in the face of challenges.

I am in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing.

I am proud of myself and my achievements.

I can overcome any setbacks with patience and kindness.

I believe in myself.

I choose myself.

I trust my inner guidance.

I trust myself to make the right decision.

I am growing every day.

My hope for each student and their families at St James is that your journey at St James will enable you to flourish and build strength in all its forms.

I will be at the Conference until the end of the week. I thank both Emma Herbert and Georgia McNamara for leading the school in my absence.

The past 9 weeks have been filled with many learning opportunities, time to reflect and renew and opportunities to celebrate the wonderful school and community that we are.

The last two weeks have been filled with many activities for the students, such as: Catholic Education Week, St Patrick's Day, the Junior School History Day and today Harmony day. Harmony Day provides us with the opportunity to reflect on the values of respect, inclusivity, and empathy that lie at the heart of our Catholic ethos. It is a time to embrace the cultural diversity that makes our school and community vibrant and unique.

Today our Easter Liturgies commenced with the students in Prep reenacting Palm Sunday, they will continue into next week.  Tomorrow, Friday 22nd March will be a school closure day for staff as they engage in professional learning around Inquiry based learning in preparation for Term 2. I'm sure that many families will use the school closure day as an opportunity to commence traveling up to Anglesea for the much awaited Dad's camp. Thank you to Dave and Michelle Thomas.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.  See you all next week for the final week of Term 1.

Drop Off / Pick Up Zones

Our drop off and pick up areas will remain in place. St James and Osbourne Close will be kiss and go areas for drop off and a quick pick up at school dismissal. However, we now ask that you park within the bays allocated in St James Close and supervise your children entering the school grounds.  Please be aware that this parking is a 2min parking zone. There is ample parking on North Road if you wish to enter the school at drop off and pick up times. Please be mindful of our neighbours when parking.

I am aware that a number of families have expressed safety concerns with the current situation in dropping off and picking up in St James Close.  Some of you may be aware that parents have received parking infringements for dropping off students in St James Close and not adhering to the signage.  I am well aware of these concerns and can assure you that I am actively working on a solution.

School Marketing 2024 / 2025

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school directly on ph 03 9596-4766 or via email: info@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au

Thanks in advance!
