Captains Corner

By Jonathan 6E - Vice Captain

Wow! We are already coming to the end of the term. The past weeks have been extraordinary, with even more greater things to come after the holidays.

Firstly, the swimming program is sadly coming to an end. Well done to all the fabulous learners who participated in the swimming program.  As swimming is a crucial skill, it is important to learn swimming at a young age.

The Year 3 and 5 students have just finished their NAPLAN tests, I wish them good luck and high results!

Congratulations to all of the people participating in Year 6 sports. It is almost the end of the Term 1 sports and soon we will be starting the new sports for Term 2.

Our upcoming and exciting project for the year, a play, learn and recreation area dedicated to the use of grade 6, is gradually taking shape. To input student voice, the Year 5 and 6 cohort have given their ideas for the new area. The feedback includes thoughts towards the area, suggestions on what to add, and the utilisation of the area. Amongst the plethora of ideas given by the students included a treehouse, a garden, a playground, sport courts, trampolines, swings, a rock climbing wall, a flying fox, and a parkour course.

This collaborative effort between the students and staff promises to create an enriching environment made to be used for many years at GWPS.

Thank you for reading this issue of the newsletter and I hope you enjoy the rest of the term and the school holidays.
