2E

By Jessica Nikitakis

Over the first few weeks of the school year, 2E has been working towards developing our understanding of the school values and expectations, where all learners are equally valued members of the community and can always feel safe. This was explored by delving into what the school values mean to us, whilst taking into consideration wellbeing strategies, a growth mindset and how learners can relate these to being safe during both learning time and outside play.

As a class we collaborated to develop safety expectations. We even developed a class oath to safety which was, “We the students of 2E pledge to be grateful, empathetic, kind and safe at school!” Following this, the learners worked in small groups on a single school value of their choice and brainstormed their understanding of how the school value can demonstrate safety around the school.

During circle time, the learners shared their posters and ideas with their peers. Here are some photographs of the learners with their posters.

This has helped create a sense of community and belonging at school by exploring our school values and ensuring that we all feel valued and safe. Thank you for reading 2E’s article.
