Mural in a Day
Artist Man.de (artist street name/tag) has been commissioned to beautify part of our playground. Man.de was born in Germany and moved to Australia when she was 25 and currently lives in the Blue Mountains. Man.de became a serious street artist 8 years ago, firstly as a paste-up artist then moved to the painted surface for her commissioned murals. She has artworks throughout the world, in Germany, Italy, Sweden, Singapore, South Africa, and the states of NSW, Queensland and Victoria.
Man.de is inspired by the beauty of the natural landscape in particular the native flora and fauna of the area in which she is working. A mural often takes 7 – 10 days to paint. The mural on our wall depicts a wren surrounded by beautiful flowers and foliage from our local area.
Year 9,10,11and 12 students have been involved in the project and have learned skills in stencil art and the rigor of being a street artist.
Mr. McKinny invited a mural artist to our school to beautify part of the playground and engage students in a collaborative project.
