Student Opportunity - A Day at University of Melbourne

On the day, students will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in hands-on workshops and sessions to discover the possibilities available through a broad range of university study areas
- Chat to staff one-on-one about what to study while in high school to be eligible for their preferred undergraduate degree
- Sit in on a panel of current students who'll share their experiences on choosing a degree, what they love about Melbourne and their plans for the future
- Discover student clubs and societies, scholarships and our Special Entry Access Scheme, Access Melbourne.
Parents are welcome to attend, but as capacity for this event is limited, they are required to register separately and book in for the parent sessions.Please note: There will be a separate A Day at Melbourne event for Year 11 and 12 students in July – details will be shared soon.
The Trades Fit expo excursion
Girls and non-binary students can learn about exciting careers in trades and tech on The Trades Fit expo excursion in May.
The expo will introduce students in years 9,10 & 11 to career pathways in traditionally male dominated industries, and provide information about how they can pursue exciting career opportunities in these fields.

YouthGrounds Training Program
Registrations for the Term 2 YouthGrounds Training Program are open with the application deadline approaching fast - registrations will close on April 8th.
The program is designed to build confidence with work readiness and hospitality skills and work experience in the YouthGrounds Café. Attached is a flyer and program overview for you to share with young people in your networks. A summary of the program is below:
Key program information:
What? Hospitality and work readiness training program, with work experience in the YouthGrounds Café
Who is it for? Young people aged 16-25 with a connection to the West and interest in gaining skills for work
Time commitment: 2 days per week
Location: Kurunjang Community Hub, 35 Mowbray Crescent, Kurunjang
Transport: Young people and students must be able to arrange own transport to the Kurunjang Community Hub

Term 2 Key dates:
Orientation meetings: Successful applicants will have an individual orientation meeting with the YouthGrounds team at the Kurunjang Community Hub. Meetings will take up to 1 hour and will take place from 15th April – 26th April for the Term 2 program.
Food Safety Certificate training: 3rd and 10th May, attendance is compulsory.
Barista training and Work experience: One day per week from 29th April – 21st June 2024 (choose either Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs)
Training workshops: Fridays in May on the 17th, 24th, 31st May
Graduation: 21st June 2024
