Well Being Hub #2

We are fortunate to have access to a wide range of services for youth in North Brisbane. From family support to mental health resources, recreational activities to support groups, North Brisbane offers a diverse range of services tailored to meet the needs of our youth at every stage of their development. Whether your young person is looking to explore their passions, overcome challenges, or simply connect with peers in a safe and inclusive environment, there's something for everyone. That's why we're excited to present to you a comprehensive guide to youth services available right here in our own backyard.

Placing the Youth Info Card in a visible location, such as on the fridge, serves as a daily reminder of the support network available to our young people. It can spark conversations about the various programs and activities offered, encouraging your young person to take advantage of the resources at their disposal. Additionally, seeing the card regularly can provide reassurance to both you and your young person that help is always just a phone call away. We also have some pocket-sized versions of the Youth Info Card available in Wellbeing Hub #2 for students and parents/carers to access.

Supporting your young person during the holidays

School Based Youth Health Nurse

Nurse Stella (Monday & Tuesdays - Wellbeing Hub 2)

Holidays can be a time of stress for some young people, taking them away from friends and school supports. For some, this can lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and stress. Luckily, Headspace has some great tips on supporting your young person during this time and some info to help recognise if they need some extra help and where to access it.

6 tips to support your young person

  1. Encourage them to stay connected
  2. Encourage them to stay involved
  3. Encourage physical activity
  4. Encourage a regular routine
  5. Encourage healthy eating habits
  6. Encourage play!

Signs to look out for

If you notice any the following changes that last for more than a couple of weeks, it might be an indication that your young person needs extra support.

Being irritable or angry towards loved one; feeling tense, restless, stressed or worried; being persistently sad or crying for no apparent reason; not enjoying or wanting to do things they usually do; engaging in more risky behaviour; changes in sleeping or eating habits; expressing lots of negative or distorted thoughts about themselves and the world.
