Caitlin Clarke - Year 11
Congratulations to Year 11 student, Caitlin, who is a current member of TGSHS Elite Volleyball Program and player in the Queensland Beach Volleyball state team.
She recently went to Thailand to compete with the Australian Junior Indoor Team.
What do you like most about volleyball?
"I love the community that Volleyball in the EVP program at The Gap State High School creates where I can mingle with other year levels."
What is your goal for the future?
"I want to compete for Australia at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics in Beach Volleyball."
With the constant rain throughout the week, we did have to postpone our school event until early next term. This delay does enable our runners to capitalise on the additional time to continue their training. Remember to sign up for the ‘runners' group’ on the sports hall notice board if you wanted to be in the lead group. All age groups are encouraged to do this, especially if you were hoping to attend the district carnival on 30 April 2024 at Teralba Park.
The event is now scheduled to be run on Wednesday 17 April 2024. This is the Wednesday of Week 1. The day and event will follow the same schedule of the initial event.
On the carnival day, all students are permitted to wear their TGSHS sports uniform for periods 1-3 including suitable running shoes that are capable of walking or running 4km. Students are encouraged to wear house colours for the event but must only change into their house specific outfit at the lunch break directly before cross country.
If students are interested in running the course prior to the carnival, please see the map below.
We look forward to the afternoon of physical activity and fun! Which house will top the charts at our next sporting carnival?

We have had a massive week of FUTSAL this week with multiple teams representing our school proudly at the Football Queensland Regional FUTSAL Championships.
This event spanned across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week and gave a great opportunity for our players to implement all of the hard work they have put in across the term. And the results speak for themselves.
Congratulations!
Our 15 Boys were crowned Regional Champions by winning the final against Aspley SHS 4-0.
Both of our 13 & 15 Girls teams earnt a Silver medal from narrow losses in the final for both of these teams.
Congratulations to our Opens team, who came second (silver) and have qualified to go through to the state championships.
These great results have earnt some of our players an opportunity to progress to the State Finals held next term. We wish these players all the best for the next stage of the competition, you should be very proud of your achievements.
A big thank you to Ms. Lauren Kennedy and Mr. Patrick Hoey for the on-going support and training that you have offered our teams.
