Student Health Support Plans

I started sending home student health support plans for students who have a medical condition requiring extra precautions while at school.  A Student Health Support Plan is a document prepared by the school nurse, in collaboration with parents and teachers. It outlines the schools extra care responsibilities for your child’s health condition.

If you receive a Student Health Support plan for your child, please read it and if you want to add anything, feel free to write on the document.

If you wish to discuss anything to do with your child’s health care needs, please email the school attention to the school nurse, or phone the school and ask to speak to the nurse.

Once you are satisfied with the plan, please sign it and send it back to your child’s teacher, who will read it and sign it, as well. The document will then be attached to your child’s medical file in Compass.

Thank you for ensuring these important documents are returned in a timely manner.

Purple Day For Epilepsy

Tuesday the 26th of April was Purple Day for Epilepsy.

Thank you to everyone who came dressed in purple and with crazy hair, to support the people living in our community with epilepsy.

Students were given the opportunity to participate in a learning or awareness session about Epilepsy.

We encourage students to learn about epilepsy and be aware that some of their classmates may be living with epilepsy.

Epilepsy can affect anyone, from any background, gender, health status or intellect.

Epilepsy itself is not an intellectual disability. Epilepsy, however, is more common in people who live with an intellectual disability. It is estimated that 1 in 5 people with intellectual disability have epilepsy.

Epilepsy looks different for different people. Some people experience seizures that are very noticeable to others, while other people experience seizures that are difficult to recognise.

To learn more about epilepsy, seizures and other conditions that cause seizures, Epilepsy Action Australia website has lots of valuable information.
