Last fortnight's reflection...

What an extraordinary fortnight it has been. Illness has dominated our final two weeks of term and sadly, we have had to cancel or postpone almost all of our extracurricular activities. We did so in the interests of everyone's health and to ensure everyone got to the Easter break as healthily as possible.

Here's looking forward to a bumper Term 2 with good health and happiness for us all.

I sincerely wish all families a wonderful and relaxing Easter holiday break. Enjoy the family time and any opportunity to connect with loved ones.

Staffing Update - New ED support in Gr 5/6

We are very pleased to announce that Abbey Cone has been successful in our recently advertised Ed Support position.

Abbey will support Gr5/6 each Monday-Wednesday from the beginning of Term 2. Bridie who has been working between Gr 3/4 and 5/6 will concentrate the majority of her time solely in Gr 3/4 from next term

Please feel free to say hi to Abbey when you see her and give her a warm Ceres welcome.

In some more staffing news, I am very pleased to announce that I have been informed that I will continue at Ceres PS into Term 2.

Yard update

The school received some wonderful news last week that the Education Department will be rectifying our well/checkerboard area at no cost to the school. At this stage, the early word is that the area will be concreted over in the first week of the holidays, although we are awaiting confirmation.

With this work on top of our playground build, I strongly advise families to remain offsite during these holidays as there will be quite a bit of machinery around the grounds.

In further yard news, we continue to employ the GSIN gardeners every 3-4 weeks to beautify our yard. The four men who work on our yard have been doing a wonderful job. We are funding these works using the parent voluntary buildings and grounds allocation we have received thus far in 2024.

*Reminder* Highlights and Challenges of the previous four years @Ceres

We value our community's voice and as part of our upcoming strategic review process in early Term 3, where we set new school learning and wellbeing goals for the next four years, we need to look back at the previous four year period and identify highlights and challenges from this time, particularly in the areas of learning and wellbeing.

Reflection such as this provides an opportunity to celebrate our successes and growth as a school while also identifying areas of development that could form goals in our next Strategic Plan.

If you wouldn't mind contributing your ideas to the questions in this survey, that would be greatly appreciated. There is the option for your child to enter their thoughts also if they wish.

The survey will remain open until early Term 2.

*Reminder* Save the date

There are a couple of key dates early next term that families need to be aware of and enter in their diaries.

Thursday, April 25th is the ANZAC Day Public Holiday and the week after on Monday, April 29th a Pupil Free Day will be held for staff to complete some Wellbeing Professional Learning.

Prep Enrolments and Tours

Expressions of interest and tours for 2025 Foundation students have begun and there has been plenty of early interest.

If you have a sibling of a current student needing enrolment next year we ask that this is submitted as soon as possible to give us a clear indication of potential numbers.

If you know anyone looking to enroll at Ceres, please ask them to book a tour or pick up an expression of interest pack.
