Dear Monash SDS Community,

As we bid farewell to Term 1 and prepare to embark on a well-deserved break, I am reminded of the importance of rest and rejuvenation. As the great author, John Lubbock once said, "Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time." May we all take this time to rest and recharge, ready to return with renewed energy and enthusiasm for the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead.

This term has been filled with memorable moments and achievements. We had a fantastic time at the Bunnings sausage sizzle, where parents and staff came together to support our school community. A big thank you to our Parent Group for organising! Was a great success.

Our leadership ceremony was another highlight this term, celebrating the dedication and commitment of our student leaders as we handed over their new jumpers and leadership badges. It is lovely to see them walk around the school proudly displaying them!

I am also proud to announce our new School Council and members, whose dedication to our school's mission and values will undoubtedly guide us to greater heights. School President Teresa Leonard (Parent member), Vice-President Annie Murray (Community member), Treasurer – Lara Vetta (Parent member), Vimala Nair (Parent member), Sarah Frost (Parent member), Lindy Abernethy (DE member), Sandra Battisti (DE member), Luke Goodman (DE member), Ellie Khan (Student member) and Danny Oskar (Student member).

The school was a sea of colour on both Harmony Day and Sports Day. On Harmony Day, we came together as a school community, embracing our cultural diversity and promoting inclusivity and respect for all. We took the opportunity to reflect on the beauty of diversity and the strength it brings to our community, as we strive to foster understanding, acceptance, and unity among all members of our school.

Sports Day was a resounding success, filled with camaraderie, competition, and fun! Our students showcased their talents and sportsmanship, embodying the spirit of teamwork and healthy competition. Look out for photos!

As we approach the Easter break, I encourage each of you to take this time to relax, and spend quality moments with loved ones. Whether you're enjoying a peaceful day at home or embarking on exciting adventures, may this break bring joy, peace, and rejuvenation to you and your families.
