Teen Reading - Deakin Research Project
Last year some of our students participated in a 'teen reading survey' as part of research being done by Deakin University on "Teen Reading in the Digital Era" The final report on their findings is now available and makes interesting reading, as they conclude "Acknowledging the diverse reading habits and preferences among Australian teens, our report highlights a landscape where digital activities often overshadow traditional reading. A key challenge is helping teens find books that captivate their interests and motivate them to read. Enhancements in library services and further use of digital recommendation tools are potential solutions. Importantly, the study’s focus was not on reading ability but on understanding reading habits and preferences..." The full report is at the link below
Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge 2024
Would you like a challenge? Do you enjoy reading or want to improve your reading? Then perhaps the VPRC 2024 is for you...come along to our Friday 'Book Bites Club' to find how you can join in and set your own reading challenge.
Pick a Genre
Year 7 students are about to start an L&L unit on 'Fantasy' and have been finding out about what this 'genre' of fiction is all about. We have a fantastic display to help them find these and any genre of fiction they may like, with our fiction collection now 'genrefied' with spine stickers to help in their selection. Please ask Mrs Swannell if you need help finding your own 'just right' book.
