Code Camp for Year 3&4 Students

We are offering Code Camp for our Year 3 & 4 students again in Term 2.  The coding sessions incorporate weekly challenges, functions, algorithms, branching, variables, game logic, user experience and maths.

From Code Camp:

'Coding after-school' is an 8-week program with a new project each week, and the fun doesn’t have to stop after class! Your child will be provided with their very own Code Camp World account which they can use to continue creating at home and to share their projects with family and friends.

If this is something that your Year 3 or 4 child would be interested in, please click on the button below.

You may choose to pick up your children earlier than usual or book them in for Vacation Care (OSHC). If you book them into Vacation Care, arrangements will be made for bus students to be taken to the designated bus zone as usual.

To book your child into Imagination, family or caregivers are required to create an account through Fully booked.

School Canteen

While we do offer convenient canteen ordering through the Qkr! app, the school canteen is also open at both recess and lunch for students who wish to purchase snack items over the counter.

This is a great opportunity for students to practice their confidence using real life skills like handling money, working out change, and conversing with someone at a cash register.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Changes to Sports Day Canteen Orders

Recess orders for students on sports day are now available (and encouraged) to preorder on QKR!

Lunch can also still be ordered. There are 2 separate menus, please order accordingly.

Lunch collection will be from 12.30pm onwards. Please note - lunch orders made through the app cannot be collected earlier than this time.

The canteen will also be selling some hot food over the counter, as well as fresh sandwiches and wraps, and some watermelon tubs along with fruit salads.

As the gym with be busy on the day, please use the side ordering window in the hall opposite the bathrooms when visiting the canteen.

Sports Day concludes at 12.45pm.

Growing Faith At Home

Dear School Family,

Palm Sunday is just around the corner.  A day of celebration as we remember how people greeted Jesus with joy and gladness as he entered Jerusalem. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of ‘Holy Week’ in the church. This week’s GFH resource offers ideas for you to talk about and perhaps do with your family and friends.

Also included are some palm leaf activities to make at home. There is an easier palm leaf to make or a slightly harder cross you can make out of an actual palm leaf.   (See attachments provided.)

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Georgie

Seasons for Growth

Seasons for Growth is an 8- week program for children who have had changes occur in their families through death, separation, divorce or related circumstances. It has been run at Good Shepherd for many years now and each year we see the fruit of children having an opportunity to process change in a safe, supportive group. We have normally run groups for stages 2,3 and 4 in term two but are open to running one this term if the need is there. The groups run for 45 minutes once a week.  Children join the group with parent permission, at the suggestion of a parent and/or their teacher.

If you think your children might benefit from this valuable program, or have more questions about it, please contact;

Renee Baker renee.baker@gspv.sa.edu.au

Sonia Hulme sonia.hulme@gspv.sa.edu.au

and we will be in touch.

More information on the program is available at https://www.mackillopseasons.org.au/programs/seasons-for-growth-children-and-young-people/

TASS Parent Lounge

Don't forget to sign into Tass Parent Lounge to update your child/ren's medical details, any address or phone number updates, or add emergency contacts.

Every parent will need to access the TASS Parent Lounge to accept excursion permissions multiple times throughout the year.

If you need help to sign into the TASS Parent Lounge, come and see the front office staff who can show you how, on the dedicated laptop provided in the front office space.

School Absences

Please don't forget, if your child is going to be absent from school you will need to notify both their classroom teacher and the front office. This can be done via email. The front office email is: admin@gspv.sa.edu.au

This helps us ensure that your child is safe and accounted for, and that we have the correct information regarding their absence.

Siblings

If you have not yet submitted an enrolment application for any siblings of current students, please do so as soon as possible to ensure a position is available, the sooner the better! Your prompt attention to this is greatly appreciated. Enrolment applications can be collected and returned to the front office.
