Principal's Message

We have reached the end of Term 1 and it has been a buzz of activity. We are fortunate to have a diverse multicultural and multi-faith community, making us genuine ambassadors of the Brigidine spirit demonstrated by the many events and celebrations so far.

Commissioning of New Principal and Investiture of Student Leaders

It was wonderful to have our College community gathered for the investiture of student leaders and my commissioning as the new Principal of the College. The investiture of our student leaders and my commissioning as Principal was a significant event earlier this month, warmly attended by parents and distinguished guests. This ceremony was not merely a formality, but a humbling moment of transition, symbolising the faith and confidence placed in me to lead and inspire. Marian College has always been a beacon of light for young women, nurturing their minds and spirits in the pursuit of knowledge, faith, and excellence through strength and kindness. To be entrusted with the stewardship of this College community is a privilege. As I look to the future, I am excited to lead the College into new horizons of innovation, inclusivity, and inspiration.

Lent

We have just progressed through Palm Sunday marking the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent. It commemorates Jesus Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where crowds laid palm branches before him. As we progress through these forty days, I reflect on the need to deepen my spiritual practices, to strip away the unnecessary, and to concentrate on the essential aspects of my faith. It’s a time for all of us to renew our commitment to living the Christian values and teachings.

Catholic Education week was celebrated last week and concluded with Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Our Liturgy Leaders represented the College

NAPLAN

Last week also saw our Yr 7 and Yr 9 student taking part in the nation-wide NAPLAN testing. This testing not only provides students with a snapshot of how they are progressing, but more importantly provides information to the College on areas that need improvement.

Prayer

God, source of all life, We thank you for the great gift of our Earth.

You blessed us with an abundant and life-giving natural world,

And gave us the capacity to nurture it for generations to come.

Inspired by the example of Pope Francis, grant us the humility to remember

That we are but one part of a vast ecosystem, all of which is precious in your eyes.

Enriched as we are by faith, nourished as we are through the Eucharist,

Grant us the strength we need to be steadfast advocates for the voiceless,

mindful of the importance of every living thing on Earth.

Endowed with a renewed understanding and appreciation of the Earth, we now have a responsibility to act. Empower us, O Lord,  that we may recognise social and ecological injustice in our community, and act decisively to create meaningful change.

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord,

Amen

God Bless

Angela Romano
