Grade 3 and 4

What's Happening?

Welcome back to term 2!  We have been busy, busy, busy in the 3/4 classes. This term our CBL focus in on 'Country' with our students already engaging in a variety of Indigenous texts and activities.

SAKG Community Day

On Friday the 19th of April, the grade 3/4 classes invited special people into our school to celebrate and showcase the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program and its significance to our 3/4 classes and whole school community. Students and their families shared recipes to contribute to our recipe book, which can still be purchased (see link below) to raise money for resources for the kitchen garden program.

The students were excited to prepare and share some of their favourite recipes, sing "The Meatball Song" and take part in a scavenger hunt around the garden areas.  So far over $2000 has been raised from this amazing community day and sales from our very special Wonga Park Recipe Book. Thank you to our students, staff, families and community members for your amazing support.

Cross Country

Wonga Park certainly turned on the weather for our whole school cross country day! A frosty start to the day quickly turned to brilliant sunshine, lots of fun, community and school spirit. It was a fabulous display of our school values watching students, staff and parents encouraging all of our runners to have a go, have fun and to do their best. The 3/4s had a wonderful time, with some very tired people at the end of the day!

ANZAC Day Assembly

On Wednesday 24th of April, the whole school acknowledged and remembered the soldiers that fought during the World War 1. Students in 3/4 also completed a series of ANZAC day reading, writing and artworks within the classroom. Lest We Forget.

Grade 3 Camp

Our grade 3 students enjoyed their first overnight camp to Mt Evelyn. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to start to develop independence and form stronger connections with their classmates through some amazing activities and group challenges. Very happy campers returned to school (ready for their own beds!). Please check in with the grade 3 teachers if you are missing any items or to check if your child may have lost an item or two.
