EISM Cross Country

Firstly, on behalf of the Cross Country Captains, we would like to say a big thanks to all those who attended the EISM Cross Country Carnival on Wednesday 6 September. It was a big effort and was great to see all your hard work in the previous weeks of early mornings come to fruition. It was great to see so many people push themselves to new heights throughout training and on the day, really demonstrating the school spirit, which was extremely evident to all those who attended.

We had some outstanding individual accomplishments.

These included:

  • Thalia D finishing third in the under 13 girls race
  • Elle D finishing third in the under 15 girls race
  • Kalan L finishing first in the under 16 boys race, with a time of 9 minutes and 52 seconds, for the 3km race, which I believe was fastest time on the day, which is a huge achievement.
  • Also, special mention to Amelia L who placed 4th in the under 14 Girls race, she was coming 3rd when a checkpoint marshal failed to tell her correct route and she had to run further!!!

These are great results, among many others, which we hope to see much more of in the coming years.

We’d also like to thank all the staff who came along on the day to support the runners. As well as those who supervised the early morning training. And a special shout out to Mrs Benavides, for always being the most energetic at the finishing line, cheering everyone on their final stretch. And of course, a massive thank you to Mrs Baynham and Mrs Sheehan for all the time and effort they put into this event. We couldn’t have done any of it without them. Their continual motivation and passion, really drove us as a team, and their unwavering support was always very much appreciated.

As a school we achieved pleasing results.

Placing 4th amongst boys in Division 1, as well as placing 3rd amongst girls.

Overall, as a school we placed 5th in Division 1.

This is a great result and shows the hard work we have been putting in, and is something that future Cross Country teams can look to build on in the years to come.
