Junior School

The Junior School is still abuzz with the resounding success of our recent musical performance of 'CATS'. The melodies and moments from the show continue to echo in our hearts, as we fondly reminisce about the remarkable performances delivered by our exceptionally talented cats, kittens, mice, and even cockroaches. It was an extraordinary week filled with stellar performances, and our students were amazing. '

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated Junior School teachers, under the leadership of Carly Major Gough, for orchestrating a musical week that exceeded all expectations.

This week we have been focusing on the virtue of ‘Courtesy’. The children are reminded of the importance of speaking and acting with courtesy in order to give others a feeling of being respected and valued.

We hope that all our fathers and special father figures had a wonderful Father's Day celebration. It was heartwarming to witness so many fathers joining us for breakfast and visiting the classrooms to be celebrated by their children.

As we approach a well-deserved holiday, I encourage everyone to stay safe and continue to treat each other with courtesy. Looking ahead, we anticipate an exciting fourth term, filled with swimming, ballgames, and memorable camp experiences to name a few. We can't wait to welcome everyone back for another fantastic term.

CATS

Excellence, by numbers

Four performances. 200 fully made-up faces (and 492 nose/whisker combinations and cockroach faces). Fifty wigs. 173 costumes (plus some spares). Eighty songs sung. 346 shoes lined up backstage. One hat box. Four (scripted) giggles. Way too many ears on headbands. One remarkable set. Twelve magic tricks. Seven umbrellas, five puffs of smoke and a train’s funnel, eight skipping ropes and a trampoline. Eight scenes of screaming. Four journeys to the Heaviside Layer.

173 children and more than a Term’s hard work.

We are all so proud of the Junior School students’ excellent work on our production of Cats! Their flexibility, persistence, bravery, enthusiasm, dedication and musicality were on full display not only during show week but in the weeks of preparation beforehand, as they committed to memory their words, melodies, choreography and blocking, and brought their characters to life. Our students discovered hitherto unknown reserves of confidence and showmanship and made lifelong memories as they worked towards entertaining four packed audiences in the PAC.

Foundation Father's Day

The Foundation Students enjoyed hosting a beautiful morning tea with all their dads. They had a wonderful morning sharing stories and handmade gifts.

Year 5

a representation of a traditional shelter.

Year 5 Teacher

Indonesian

Year 5 has been connecting with students from Indonesia via zoom in class and by writing a letter in both Indonesian and English. This pen pal writing activities is a continuation of our Indonesian - Australian cultural awareness studies between our Junior School students and our sister school students from Gagas Ceria Primary School in Bandung, Indonesia.

Last week, Year 5 received letters in Indonesian from their Indonesian buddies. In class, we have been busy understanding the Indonesian students’ pen pal letters and replying to them in two languages.  Year 5 students were very excited about understanding more about Indonesian students’ activities, the school and their culture.
