The State Debate ~ Mullauna year 12 Debate Team ~ In the Top 8 Teams in Victoria
The Year 12 team won the debate in the Octo-finals at St. Leonards against Kew High School on the topic: ‘That referendums should not require a double majority to pass’. We argued the Negative.
Matilda was awarded best speaker.
The debate team: Casper Potgieter-Strachan, Matilda Ridgway, Alex Sayle with Andrew Fankhauser in support.
All the coaches (Tamsin Davidson, Wayne Howell and Alister Graham) were present, along with a strong contingency of family supporters, to watch the team take victory.
The team are through to the quarter-finals (details attached).
They will play against St. Leonard’s next, with a secret topic. This is released at 6pm. They will be arguing the affirmative. They have no access to electronic devices, though they can have printed materials. One hour later ... they debate!
