Deakin University Filming of Year 9 English
On Monday 28 August, members from Deakin University were present in the Year 9 Griffin English class. The purpose of their visit was to conduct filming for Deakin Uni Education students to learn about educating high achievers. On the day, they had brought a 360-degree camera, that captured all aspects of the class like student engagement, seating arrangements and teacher directions.
As part of this event, students were told to wear smart casual clothing, to protect the identity of the school; being the only class wearing free dress, we were thrilled! The overall classroom energy was certainly more outgoing and vibrant, everyone was curious towards the strange looking camera and microphone in the middle of the room. On top of that, when class started, all students were on their best behaviours, showing Deakin Uni our Nossalonian spirit. Soon afterwards, it appeared as though the camera's presence faded, allowing us to conduct a typical class.
The visit from Deakin Uni brought an air of excitement and curiosity to our class, and we hope that we can have this opportunity again.
