Year Three/Four News 

Swimming

The Year 3/4 swimming program begins on Friday. Everyone is very excited! Students are encouraged to wear their bathers underneath their school uniform to make changing at the pool easier. Students are also encouraged to bring thongs, crocs or other slip-on shoes that they can wear to and from the pool. Normal school shoes need to be worn at school, however students can bring their thongs to wear at the pool. All swimming equipment needs to have student's names written on them. Please see your child's classroom teacher if you have any questions.

Mentor Texts

The 3/4 classes have recently purchased sets of mentor texts for teachers to use when explicitly teaching concepts to students. During reading and writing lessons, students will be using the mentor texts to explore elements such as the setting of the text, how speech is used in the text and how the author makes a text engaging. Students will be looking at elements of how the text is used to show different parts of a narrative and identifying the different features of poetry. Already students are engaged in the mentor texts and it is great to see them being able to use what they have learned in the mentor text and applying it to their own learning. We are really looking forward to using these texts throughout the term.
