Principal's Blog
Dear Parents, Carers, Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,
What a stunning week to finish the term. As we wind down for the holiday break, I would like to congratulate each student for their fantastic efforts in term 3. I had the pleasure of visiting our year 1 classes today who were showcasing their diorama habitats and their information reports. The standard of work was exceptional, and the children were extremely confident when sharing their work. Well done to all.
Good Luck
Best wishes to Miss Tori Jackson who was successful in being selected to represent Australia in the Red Bull three on three basketball competition to be held in Serbia. We look forward to hearing the results over the coming days.
Book Fair
A huge thank you to Mrs Grostate and her team of staff and parent helpers who have run a very successful Book Fair this week. I hope everyone has had a chance to add to their home libraries and will enjoy reading their purchases over the holidays.
NFL State Champions
Congratulations to our year 6 NFL flag State Championship Team who won the competition this week. They will now go on to compete in the Gold Coast next term. Thank you to Mr Runchey, Mr Henry and Mr Millman for coaching and supporting these talented players. This will be a great opportunity next term.
Staying Safe Online
Holidays are a great time to check in with your child around staying safe online. A reminder that social media platforms such as Instagram, Tik Tok, Snapchat, Facebook etc.. are illegal until children are 13 years of age. The easiest way to avoid exposure to inappropriate content or poor online behaviour is to avoid these platforms altogether. Having agreements and boundaries in place around time spent online and the supervision when using devices is important to have in place.
2024 Preps
If you have a student starting prep in 2024 and have not yet enrolled, it is important that you do so immediately.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday break.
Nadine Pye on behalf of the Derinya Team.
