OLF Garden Update
OLF Garden Update
Here at OLF, we have a veggie patch at the bottom of Burns Paddock. The Environment Team has been working very hard to establish this garden.
Before After
We were donated several plants and vegetables from Bunnings last Term and now that Spring has Sprung we finally have some food growing! In this garden we are growing several plants like:
- Snow peas
- Strawberries
- Massive Broccoli
- Recently planted Corn (Yum)
- Tomatoes
- Cauliflower
- Mint
- Brussels sprouts (uhh)
Our Subpod has arrived!
We put together the subpod and it's now ready for our new school's pets....WORMS! Our new subpod will reduce our school waste as the worms will break down our leftover food scraps. It is surrounded by a garden bed and the worms will help the new vegetables that we plant around it grow.
Interesting fact
This week we have a special Plant of the Week, Alliums.
These Purple Puffy Flowers are hiding a special secret, but I’ll give you a hint.....
You probably ate one in the past week. That's right, Onions. Alliums are the flowers atop onions, this is why the stem is completely straight with no leaves because of all of the Onion roots. Come to the Gardening club every Tuesday at lunch 2 if this sounds interesting.
