Principal's Message

By Mrs Mellish

Welcome back to Term 4!

I hope everyone took some time to relax over the holidays and are feeling recharged and ready for a very busy but fun term 4!

Students have settled back into school routines quickly and when I walk around the school, I see students learning in calm and organised classes with high-quality teaching taking place.

We have some new additions to our GEPS staff this term. I would like to welcome Mrs Katerina Dimos (Classroom teacher), Mrs Tania Otten (Office and Library support), Mrs Amal Naboulsi (SLSO) and Georgia (Speech Aid).  It is so great to have you on board! We hope you'll enjoy working with us and feel right at home in no time.

We’ve already had a number of exciting events happen as well.

  • Stage 3 had an excursion to the Field of Mars where they were involved in a range of outdoor team building challenges aimed at testing their problem solving, map reading and leadership skills.

  • Chris Tobin, a Dharug Elder, visited GEPS on Tuesday and spoke with students about the importance of prioritising community and having respect for the environment.
  • ‘Marvellous Monday’ began! This is an initiative to improve student attendance on Mondays. Arrive to school between 8.30 – 8.45am to get a raffle ticket! You may win a prize.
  • PSSA started and we had the first session of Stage 2 and Stage 3 AFL Clinics.
  • Stage 1 cooking class with fresh produce from our garden.

There are many other things to look forward to as well:

  • Wear it Loud Day (Friday 20th October)
  • World Teachers Day (Friday 27th October)
  • Learning conversations (Stage 1, Stage 2 and Year 5)
  • Stage 3 Camp, Mock Highschool and farewell
  • Presentation Assembly (Tuesday 12th December)
  • GEPS Idol (Thursday 14th December)
  • Open Classroom’ opportunities
  • Kindy Transition program (weeks 4 – 9)

And so much more!

Term 4 is always an exciting term for students with so much happening, however, we will continue to focus on quality teaching and learning and strike a balance between the events and the core business of school, learning!

Please read the Stage Overviews to learn more about what students are learning in the first 5 weeks of this term.
