Senior Unit - 5/6

The Senior Unit is abuzz with excitement after a very busy fortnight of sports, fundraising and learning.

Funfields Fundraiser

Yesterday, the Year Six students set up games for a fundraising event to raise money so they can go to Funfields as a graduation celebration. The Year 6 students have been working on their stall idea for the last 3 weeks, starting with an idea and then planning how their game would work and what they would need. Students from across the school brought change to spend at the stalls, trying their luck and winning tokens to get lollies. Thank you to the parents for allowing their children to bring money to school and to the school community for playing the games. On average, each game raised approximately $80 dollars and overall, they raised a total of $980. With the money raised from the icy pole stall at the end of Term 3 ($221), this takes our total money fundraised to $1201. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped raise all the money. It was a very fun and successful day for everyone involved. This money will go a long way to reducing the cost of the bus and entry into Funfields.  - Odin and Aiden

Girls Basketball Team

On Monday the 16th of October, our girls basketball team travelled to Castlemaine to compete in the Goldfields Division Basketball Tournament. This competition was the second stage, after they were victorious at the COBAW District Competition.

The girls played three games, 2 of which were for fun as they were against boy’s teams and 1 game against the Carisbrooke Primary School girls’ team. In both the games against the boys teams, our girls competed valiantly, only missing out on a win in both games by a couple of points.

The game against the Carisbrooke girls’ team (their must win event) started with both sides trading baskets, scores even up to half time. After a quick pep talk from Coach Lisa, the girls came out firing and quickly put scoreboard pressure on Carisbrooke. After finishing strongly, the girls team won by 16 points and are off to Swan Hill to compete in the Loddon Mallee Region Finals on Friday the 27th of October. A huge thank you to Lisa for volunteering her time to help transport the girls to the event, as well as coaching on the day. We wish the girls the best of luck.
