Whole School Concert

Hi Parents/Guardians/Lovely People!

We’re a month out from our ‘Australian Made’ school concert on Thursday, November 16th – so I thought I’d just make a quick announcement about costumes and some logistical considerations.

Much like last years' Carlsruhe Country Fair, the students are encouraged to dress in their most Australian-themed gear. This could range from something as simple as Akubras and Ugg boots, to your favourite sporting team jerseys (AFL, Matildas, etc) - or if you’re feeling super creative, they could dress as a giant slice of Vegemite Toast, a swaggie, Mulga Bill, the Sydney Opera House or a Lamington. Get creative but don’t stress out about it, only devote the time and resources you have to spare – it’s a busy time of year! Please no Nike, Chicago Bulls or Manchester United stuff this time – let’s stay on theme, people!

Arrival time is 5:00 for Prep-3 students and 6:00 (at the latest) for Grades 4-6. This will give us time to gather children under the oak outside the French Room and make sure they’re where they need to be, when the music starts pumping!

The other quick point is on logistics – the concert is utilising the green fake grass steps leading down to the netball courts as our stage, the audience will sit on the netball court itself on deckchairs, cushions and other soft things. However, we’re highly unlikely to fit the entire schools worth of parents and families on the netball court, so here’s our solution.

We’re going to attempt a ‘rotating audience’, with the option of picnicking on the oval when your children aren’t performing.

Essentially,

  • if you only have children in Prep-3, you can watch the first half from the netball court, collect your child from their class teacher in the 20 intermission then head down to the oval for a picnic (or head home!).
  • If you only have children in Grades 4-6, you’re welcome to picnic on the oval for the first half, then head up to the netball court during our 20 minute change over and your children can make their way to their class teacher during intermission.
  • If you have children in both Prep-3 and Grades 4-6, well, you’re in it for the long haul! Set up on the netball court with picnic dinner and comfy stuff. There’ll be a nice time to have a break and stretch between the little and big kids concerts.

Phew, that was long-winded! All will be made clearer in a few weeks once I’ve walked it all through with the rest of the staff!

Thanks so much!

Joseph. (Performing Arts)
