Pyjama and Yoga Day
Our Preschool responded to a suggestion from families to host a pyjama day at preschool. This was planned for the end of Term 3 as a wind down to the end of term and included a Pyjama and Yoga Day. The children and educators wore their pyjamas and engaged in yoga sessions.
Role modelling, with children, the importance of building a strong healthy body also includes allowing time for rest and quietness. This builds children's capacity to be responsible for their own wellness and wellbeing from an early age. (Early Years Learning Framework Version 2)
Term 4
As we head into the final term of preschool for many of our children, this is time to relish the friendships and connections children have made and with added maturity, build social competence. The children are capable learners and are now refining many skills ready for new challenges ahead.
Already the children have had an array of opportunities to practise their cutting skills at preschool. These allow for each child to practise within their own fine motor capabilities and be extended to grow in ability and accuracy.
To be able to cut involves:
This may begin by using scissors with playdough and then progress to making snips along the edge of paper, being able to cut across a piece of paper and finally using accuracy to cut along a line or around a picture or shape.
Children become strong in their physical learning and mental wellbeing through manipulating equipment and managing tools with increasing competence and skill. (Early Years Learning Framework Version 2 Outcome 3)
