Principal News

Term 2
I am delighted to be given the opportunity to remain at Lockington Consolidated School next term as the Acting Principal. I look forward to working with the dedicated staff, friendly students and their families for a further term. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and discover all of the wonderful things that make this school community so special.
FAREWELL JESSEY
I want to take this opportunity to wish Jessey Hon and her family all the very best for their new adventure. Jessey and her family will be relocating to Gippsland over the holiday break. Jessey is to take up a contract role at Sale Primary School starting next term. Jessey has shared the role as the classroom teacher of 5/6A this term (along with Jackson Gray). I know that her students will be sad to see her leaving.
WELCOME HAYLEY
We are delighted to announce that Hayley Whelan (who currently teaches LOTE two days per week), will be increasing her time fraction with us and will be in Year 5/6 A as a classroom teacher two days per week, sharing the role with Jackson Gray. Hayley is a most valued member of staff here at Lockington Consolidated School and we are looking forward to having her working in the 5/6 area.
WELCOME BACK LYNSEY
We are so fortunate to welcome back Lynsey Dobson returning from her maternity leave (albeit for just one day) next term. Lynsey will work across several classrooms on Wednesdays and it will be great to have her smiling face here each week.
- A reminder that Term 2 commences on Tuesday April 22nd (as Monday is Easter Monday) and ANZAC Day is Friday April 25th (and therefore, a public holiday); thus making the first week back a three day week.
- We will be hosting an ANZAC Ceremony at school in the BER on Thursday April 24th at 3pm. We invite parents and carers to attend alongside our students and staff. This ceremony will be lead by our school captains.
COME & TRY
NAPLAN
Last week most students in Years 3 and 5 took part in the NAPLAN testing regime. Some students who were absent during the scheduled tests have completed their tests this week. Results should be available to schools and families in early Term 3. We have been very proud of the manner in which our students conducted themselves during these tests, showing a "can do" attitude.
Local Secondary School Open Days
Many secondary schools will begin hosting their open days and information nights over the next few weeks. If you have a child in Year 5 or 6 it is well worth making the time to tour any schools that you are considering. We will be sending enrolment information packs home to families with Year 6 students early next term to commence the enrolment process.

3/4A Kinder Performance
3/4A and Mrs Connors are visiting our local Kinder on Wednesday 2nd April to perform a singing concert for the 3-4 year old Kinder children. The children have been practising and have a variety of songs to sing and act for the audience. We are very excited to be given this opportunity to perform and look forward to this event! Photos will follow in the next edition.
That's all for this week, Lisa Duffy.
