What's happening in Stage 2

This term we have been learning about literary devices such as, personification (having human-like qualities), similes and metaphors (comparing something to another thing), as well as alliteration (a series of words starting with the same sound).

Here are some examples from our class that we created during a warm up. Can you work out which literary devices have been used in each sentence?

The mouldy magical man-made temple was old. It was in the middle of Maiden Park in Melbourne. It was made of magic blocks. It had a moggy old swamp and a mysterious mongoose lived there.

The shiny green flora sparkled as bright as the sun. The grass shimmered under the glamorous sun’s rays. Lilly danced through the lovely lively forest. The leaves gently lit her pathway.

Homophone Couplet Poem

My horse is great all day

My mum grates the carrots while he eats his hay.

There’s a hole in the gate

The whole fence fell and my dad yelled “MATE!”

My mum got the meat from the fridge

We were going to meet someone near the bridge

I was having some peace in my room

Then Jake got a piece of a broom!
