Principal's Report

As we continue our Lenten journey, the second week reminds us of the importance of reflection, prayer, and helping others. This week, we have focused on deepening our relationship with God through quiet moments of prayer and asking ourselves how we can make small changes in our lives to become kinder, more generous, and more loving. Lent is a time to give up things that might distract us from God and focus on what truly matters.
Let’s remember that Lent is not just about giving something up, but also about making space to grow closer to Jesus. As we reflect on His love and sacrifice, we can ask ourselves, "How can I be more like Him?" Whether it’s through sharing with others, showing kindness, or simply being patient, we are invited to live out the spirit of Lent every day. Let’s continue to pray, reflect, and act with love as we move through this special season.
Swimming
Our senior students in grade 3-6 have completed their swimming program this week. It was great to see the active participation of the children as we hope they have continued to develop an awareness of water safety and the need to develop skills. Australia has many water ways, and we celebrate the fact that as a country we have a strong link to recreation in water, as such I strongly encourage families to participate in swimming lessons outside the school program for a consistent and long-term approach to learning and skill development. Thank you to Mr Coates and our staff who have contributed to the success of the program.
Parents and Friends
We have a parents and friends meeting on Wednesday 19th March at 7.00pm to discuss the events for the rest of the term and into term 2. All are welcome. Additionally, we have the Easter Egg raffle returning with books being sent home today and extra booklets available from the office. Thanks to the parents who are supporting this fundraiser.
Enrolment
Prep Enrolments open soon for 2026. If you have a sibling beginning school next year, please contact the office for an enrolment form.
Welcome
A welcome to Tanisha Tzouritis as part of our allied health team supporting children and families in our school. The changes in governance and our close relationship with the CESL has allowed Tanisha to begin work on a fortnightly basis as our educational psychologist.
Staffing
A note to the Grade 2 families, Ms McKenzie will be taking long service leave for the final two weeks of term. The Grade 2MM class will be taught by Nicole Lacey. Nicole has worked in a variety of classrooms across the school and is looking forward to continuing the learning in grade 2.
NAPLAN
Over the next two weeks our Year 3 and Year 5 students engage in the National Assessment Program of Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). NAPLAN assesses skills important for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. It is essential to remember that NAPLAN is not about passing or failing but about assessing learning progress. It is also important to remember that NAPLAN does not assess all the ways that your child is a learner and a contributor to life. Every day we celebrate the learning growth your child is making; during NAPLAN our government agencies use a standardised assessment to measure growth. It gives some important information about how we are travelling as a school community and how our students perform in standardised testing scenarios.
