INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Every Victorian child should have access to the world of learning opportunities that exist beyond the classroom. The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps ensure that no student will miss out on the opportunity to join their classmates for important, educational and fun activities. It is part of making Victoria the Education State and the Government’s commitment to breaking the link between a student’s background and their outcomes.

CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF)

School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership.  All are a part of a healthy curriculum.

CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seekers and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

The annual CSEF amount per student is:

  • $154 for primary school students

The vision for Catholic Education Sandhurst Limited (CES Ltd) is to provide, in partnership with our families, stimulating, enriching, liberating and nurturing learning environments in each of the Catholic school communities with the Diocese. At the heart of this vision is our commitment to the ongoing duty of care that we have for the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all children and young people.

We believe:

  • that the values of the Gospel are central to who we are, what we do and how we act.
  • in the leadership encompassing vision, innovation, and empowerment.

Background: The Catholic Education Sandhurst (CESL) School Fees Policy states that, “.... no baptised Catholic student is denied a Catholic education because of a family’s inability to pay school fees” and that school procedures for the granting of concessions “.... need to be transparent, fair and just.

Purpose: This Procedure aims to:

• Reduce the financial burden on families experiencing financial hardship.

• Ensure that there is a fair and dignified process for parents of enrolled or prospective students to seek a concession due to financial hardship.

• Establish and maintain a fee concession scheme that encourages enrolment of Catholic families with low socio-economic status.

• Ensure that funding provided to schools for the specific purpose of providing free concessions for eligible families is appropriately allocated.

Concession Categories:

Any family experiencing genuine financial hardship is encouraged to apply for a school fee concession. Information and application forms should be included in the school’s enrolment package and/or made available from the school office.

There are two categories under which an application for a concession can be made:

Category 1 Concession - Eligible, means-tested Centrelink Concession Card (CCC) holders. All families in which the fee payer holds an eligible, means-tested CCC (such as an eligible healthcare card or pensioner concession card) are automatically eligible for a school fee concession.

Category 2 Concession - Special Consideration - A family experiencing financial hardship and not eligible under Category 1 Concession, is encouraged to apply for a fee concession. The application requires information to be provided to enable a fair and equitable assessment of eligibility for, and level of, fee concession.

For application forms or more information, please see Whitney or Jo in the office.
