From the Houses

It's been great spending time with our boarders during the last few weeks. We all enjoyed the Saint Patrick's Day dinner. A big thank you to Dave Lugton for providing us with wonderful meal which included a tasty "Beef Guinness" style hotpot, sausages and onion and icecream with a green adornment of mint leaf lollies. There were a variety of green tops and hats, setting the scene for an excellent Saint Patrick's Day Quiz.
The MEBS annual Co-Ed Netball match was played, with the Yellow Team winning this year's Trophy. Enjoyed the recent combined dorm netball afternoon, with the Yellow team being the victors after a fierce competition. Recently I spent time with our years 7 - 9 at activities and was very impressed with their basketball skills.
This term, our leaders also initiated a get-to-know-someone-new night by mixing up our dining tables, allowing boarders who have not sat with each other the chance to get to know someone new. Feedback from several of the boarders was positive as they had talked with a new person and are now looking forward to repeating it once a term.
The Activities Space/ Coordinators office is being well used with boarders dropping in to say hello or taking the opportunity to use the craft or sporting equipment. Issac and Jeremy have recently spent an afternoon using lots of blue paint in preparation to support their house at their sports carnival, as well as spending time in the music room playing piano and singing. It's great to see such motivated students.
The weeks of term have gone quickly, and we all look forward to the term break and time with our families. We pray that yours will be a happy and safe one, and we look forward to Term 2 and all it will bring.

RICE HOUSE
Rice House Boarders have been actively involved in College and Community events throughout Term 1.
Senior boarders Ted and Eli are currently studying towards their Certificate 2 in Agriculture at TAFE.
Many of our boarders have been making use of the laundry room. The art of washing, ironing and maintaining clothing is an excellent life skill to develop, especially when living away from home. We are pleased to see so many of the boys making good use of the facilities.
Cooper Yr 8
Year 12 can be very busy and demanding. A balance of life is very important - sleep/ nutrition and relaxation in between bouts of academic work is so important.
Junior boarders Charlie and Sam went to the McPherson oval to try out for the Northern Riverina team. Congratulations to Sam, who went on to make the team. Charlie is to be commended for his strong effort, coming close to being selected, but he will have to try his chances again next year. Kildare was successful in defeating Mater Dei by 100 points in the selection game.
Hunter Yr 12
Senior Boarders Harrison and Samuel recently went on a science and engineering day with Mater Dei, they greatly enjoyed the event and liked the challenge it posed.
Hardy Shield
Senior Boarders Ollie, Jeremy, Archie, Kai, Jack, and Dusty are valuable players of the Kildare team.
Kildare secured the victory in the recent Hardy Shield final. Ollie was the Captain, scoring the winning field goal in a golden point extra time. Kai was awarded man of the match. Jeremy scored 2 tries. This is the 4th victory in a row for Kildare.
Rice House wishes everybody a safe, happy, and holy Easter and Easter break.
Thank you to Naomi, Jody, Jayden, and Jobe for the help and assistance during the term.
We look forward to seeing Wayne Galvin on his return from leave in Term 2.
