Discovery Evening

All parents and students considering enrolling at Lalor Secondary College in 2026 are invited to the Discovery Evening on Tuesday the 18th of March. This evening will be an opportunity to explore the college and ask questions to both staff and students on why you should enrol at Lalor Secondary College.

I will address all visitors at 6.30pm in The Hall on this evening. I look forward to meeting and greeting you all to our community.

Victorian Premier Visit – International Women’s Days

On Friday the 7th of March the school was visited by the Premier of Victoria – Jacinta Allan and our local state member of parliament – Bronwyn Halfpenny. The visit was to acknowledge and celebrate International Women’s Day. The Premier spent some time touring through the new buildings before joining women and girls from our community on the roof of the LA building for a luncheon.

The Premier was welcomed by some of our senior leaders, girls from years 7 to 11, school council parents and community members.

International Women’s Day is day we celebrate the enormous contributions women and girls have made to our community, ensuring our college continues to become a positive learning environment where everyone can learn and grow.

I encourage everyone to visit the school’s Facebook page to view and celebrate the photos that capture to day’s events.

Year 7 Camp

I had the pleasure of attending the Year 7 camp on Friday the 28th of February with my daughter who had a day away from school. It was a great day with all of the students attending telling me of their highlights over the 3 days. I was able to observe students completing the high ropes, flying fox, hut building, obstacle course and witness many students receiving multiple school value awards cards. The feedback from the camp staff and Lalor Secondary College staff was extremely positive and the school could not be prouder of the students who attended this camp. A big thank you to all of the staff who attended the camp and to the engagement team for their work in delivering a wonderful experience for both staff and students.

Elara and I had the pleasure of selecting the winners on camp who had developed the most impressive values posters. They were awarded a canteen voucher to the value of $10 and will have their posters hang around the college.

School Student Broadband Initiative

We can support your child’s education with free home internet - National Referral Centre

This is an Australian Government program for families and carers with school age children who are struggling with bills. Contact the team to see if you qualify and for help getting your house connected.

Call 1800 954 610 (10am – 6pm AEDT Monday to Friday, excluding Victorian Public Holidays) or click on the link below to complete the enquiry form

Student Internet Program - Anglicare Victoria

Free home internet until 30 June 2028

Up to 30,000 families and carers can apply for the offer until 31 December 2025 (or until 30,000 SSBI services connected are reached if sooner), and qualifying households will receive free home internet until 30 June 2028.

If you qualify, your free home internet service will begin as soon as you are connected by your chosen participating internet provider.

How do I qualify for the School Student Broadband Initiative?

Access to online learning at home is important for your children’s education.

To qualify you must:

  • Have a school age student at home (full or part time) enrolled in an Australian school (up to year 12 including Prep in Qld/Vic/Tas, Kindergarten in NSW, Reception in SA, Transition in NT/ACT and Pre-Primary in WA).
  • Not have an active nbn® network internet service at your current residential address now or in the past 14 days. (Having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility).
  • Live in a premise that can access the nbn network through a standard connection

How does the School Student Broadband Initiative work?

The team can check if you qualify and help you get connected.

If you qualify, you will get free nbn home internet through a participating internet provider. The internet provider will have their own process to get you connected to the SSBI service.

Once you sign up, the internet provider will help you set up your connection. Your connection equipment (Wi-Fi router) is provided for free and does not need to be returned. This program does not include devices such as a computer or tablet. Other household members can use the internet service.

Your free home internet will start from the day your service is activated with your chosen internet provider. When the free internet period ends, you should not be moved onto a paid service by your internet provider without your consent.

Qualifying families and carers have until the program reaches a cap of 30,000 SSBI services connected to use their voucher. There is a back stop date of the end of 2025 for qualifying families and carers to redeem their vouchers but nbn anticipates the SSBI cap of 30,000 SSBI services will be met well before the end of 2025.

Call 1800 954 610 (10am – 6pm AEDT Monday to Friday, excluding Victorian Public Holidays) to check if you qualify and apply.

What to expect when you call the team

The call will take about 20 minutes – around 10 minutes with a member of our team to get your free internet voucher, and another 10 minutes with your chosen participating internet provider who will help get your internet connected.

To help get you online as quickly as possible, please have your contact details ready, both your mobile number and email address. If you are moving into a new home, we will need to know what date you are moving in.
