Need-to-Know - News from the Office
Closing dates for all Compass events
The office will continue to send reminders of upcoming closing dates of events a day or two before cutoff, but please be aware that from the commencement of term 2 closing dates will not be extended. Closing dates are in place so that we can manage staffing and so we can advise our suppliers of student numbers, including bus bookings, ticket purchases and dietary and medical conditions. They are an important tool to ensure the safety of our students and the success of each event and will not be extended for any reason.
Compass access
If you do not have access to Compass please contact the office so that we can get you connected.
School Saving Bonus (SSB) allocation
We encourage all parents to allocate their SSB to “School Activities” which can be done through the SSB portal using your individual code for each student. By doing this you can then use your SSB towards school events such as camps, excursions, school disco, and at our uniform shop etc.
Using your SSB at school for uniform purchases
Once you have allocated your SSB we will be happy to help you with uniform purchases at the school office (please do not use Qkr ordering if you intend to use your SSB).
Using your SSB for camps, excursions etc.
As set out in the Compass message sent to all families two weeks ago there is no data link between our financial system and Compass for SSB credits. The Department of Education and Compass are still negotiating the introduction of software to enable linking SSB to Compass and we will introduce this option as soon as it becomes available.
In the meantime, we will continue to follow the system below to enable you to use your SSB towards camps, excursions and other school activities.
- Parents must have allocated the SSB to “School Activities” (see above)
- Parents must authorise payment of each Compass event by SSB by contacting the office by telephone, by email or at the counter
- Office staff will mark the Compass event for your child as “Paid with Credit”
- Parents must then complete their consent for the event on Compass
Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) applications
If you are the holder of a Centrelink concession card, you may be entitled to CSEF. If you have previously received CSEF at Buninyong Primary School there is no need to do anything for 2025 but if you are new to BPS or have recently been issued a Centrelink concession card you will need to make a new application. Please see details in this newsletter or contact the school office for further advice.
We are here to help, please contact us if we can assist you with anything.
