Prayer for Lent

God, you know us better than we know ourselves.

You know what we are able to bear, and you know what would destroy us.

We pray for all who face danger on this day both in our community and in the communities of our world.

We pray for people standing in lines for food and water, for people without permanent housing, and for those who have been tragically bereaved.

We pray for the unemployed, the underemployed and for those in fear of losing their jobs.

Remind all who struggle that they are not forsaken and that their faith in you is not misplaced.

Open our hearts to respond to the needs of a hurting world.

Make us your hands and feet and walk us into places where people need you most.

May we follow the path of Jesus, wherever it needs to take us so that you might be glorified on this earth.

Amen

Lifelong benefits of attending a Catholic school

A 2025 study conducted by the Centre for International Research on Education Systems (CIRES) at Victoria University, utilising data from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey, has highlighted the enduring benefits of a Catholic education. The research was conducted by Mr Andrew Wade, Dr Beatriz Gallo Cordoba, and Dr Maria Prokofieva.

Key findings from the study include:

  • Enhanced Employment Prospects: Individuals who attended Catholic schools are more likely to be employed compared to those who attended government schools.

  • Higher Earnings: Catholic school alumni earn, on average, between 4% to 11% more than their counterparts from government schools.

  • Community Engagement: Graduates from Catholic schools are more inclined to work in sectors that directly benefit the public and are more likely to donate to charity.

  • Improved Health and Wellbeing: The study also found positive impacts on personal health and life satisfaction among those who attended Catholic schools.

These findings underscore the holistic approach of Catholic education, which not only focuses on academic excellence but also on fostering community involvement and personal wellbeing.

We are proud to be part of a system that contributes positively to the lifelong success and fulfillment of our students.
