Celebrating Student Achievement

Congratulations Max and Leo!

Our Year Three students Max (3AC) and Leo (3JK) recently competed at the State Track and Field Championships! Leo competed in the 60m hurdles, and Max competed in the 70m, 200m and the 60m hurdles. Both young athletes delivered incredible performances and achieved personal bests in every event they competed in! Max took home bronze in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.66 seconds.

Here's what Leo and Max had to say about their awesome athletics experience:

How long have you been doing athletics?

Both: For three years. This is the first year we have been able to do competitions. It’s lots of fun!

Was this your first championship?

Both: No. We also competed in the Relay State Championship earlier in the season.

How were you feeling in the lead-up to the event?

Both: Nervous, but also excited.

How did you feel after you finished your events on the day?

Max: Excited and happy after coming 3rd in the hurdles.

Leo: Happy to have got a PB and that I’d done my best.

What's the best thing about track and field?

Both: Getting to have fun and racing against friends and people from other clubs.

Is it ever challenging to clear your hurdles while running so fast?

Leo: Not really no.

Max: Yes it can be. I have fallen over once before in a race.

Do you have any advice for other students who are working towards their goals?

Both: Work hard, have fun and don’t give up.

Thanks for sharing with us Leo and Max, and for your great advice. We're very proud of your achievements!
