Performing Arts

What’s been happening in Performing Arts these last few weeks?

Foundation students have been using their body movements, facial expressions, gestures and voice to imagine and improvise different characters and situations.

Year One students have completed their beautiful Chinese Opera Masks and performed with them! They had to practise using exaggerated movements and hand gestures to show the personality or emotion of their character. They also had to change their voices to express their different characters.  Enjoy the photos of their masks!

Year Two students have created different pieces of drama from a starting point. Last week, their starting point was a picture. This week, their starting point will be a story, which they have to summarise into five freeze frames, using body language and facial expressions.

Year Three and Four students have started their creative process for their Non-naturalistic Dramas. They are working in pairs to produce a drama that includes a clear storyline, transformation of character and transformation of object. We can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Year Five and Six students are completing their Work In Progress Showings this week for their Improvised Drama Games. As an audience, we will provide them with both positive and constructive feedback, so students can make changes before presenting their Drama Games in Week Nine and Ten to a younger audience.

Have a fantastic week!
