From the Year 5 Classroom

It is remarkable to think that the school year is already half over for your children. We have genuinely appreciated the opportunity to educate each and every one of them during this semester. We hope that you all have a safe and enjoyable break.

In Numeracy, our current focus is on solving practical problems related to the perimeter and area of both regular and irregular shapes. We have also been revisiting previously covered concepts such as 24-hour time, equivalent fractions, and the four operations.

This week in our Literacy program, we have been drawing inspiration from the works of author Jackie French to create our own hybrid texts. Our focus has been on analysing French's unique writing style, identifying her strengths as a writer, and exploring how she effectively establishes mood for readers.

On Monday afternoon, we attended a Fire Carrier (friends igniting reconciliation through education) Workshop facilitated by Louise and Vanessa from the Catholic Education Office. It was inspiring to witness a high level of student engagement and enthusiasm towards the prospect of becoming Fire Carriers.

Congratulations to Todd Lawless and Parker Cowan for their participation in the Regional Cross Country event at Benalla.  You should both be proud of your accomplishments.

We would like to recognise and commend the efforts of Georgie Perks, Lawson Kelly, Todd Lawless, and Jack Bruce for completing their Sacrament of Communion and Confirmation over the weekend.

The highly anticipated gold auction will be held this Thursday. Students have acquired gold karats throughout the term, giving them the opportunity to bid on the various prizes available. Good luck to the highest bidders!!!
