"The ability to observe without evaluating is the highest form of intelligence."

Some of our science time was spent observing our outdoor environment to see how the indigenous grasses and shrubs we planted were going in MacKillop walk. Looking to see what flowers were around for the bees, and noticing the difference between evergreen and deciduous trees with their falling leaves. There are lots of ways to recycle these leaves for mulch, compost and bedding for the chicken's scratching yard. Students identified what vegetables have finished producing food and what we can plant over the cooler months. Cracking open walnuts was an interesting process.
